Bike Gearing RPM’s for Low Gear (LG), Big Gear (BG) and your Choice or Time Trial Gear (TTG)
LG Seated 96-110 Rpms – warm up and cool down, aerobic riding and cadence sessions
LG Standing 82-88 Rpms – attacks uphill and leg reprieve
BG Seated 58-64 Rpms – strength endurance sets,
BG Standing 54-62 Rpms – big hill climbs
TTG Seated 86-94 Rpms – Triathlon related or TT sets
TTG Standing 68-74 Rpms – small gradients and countering attacks
The gearing selection will vary depending upon:
– Level of resistance your trainer is set to depending if has one.
– Intensity of the effort
– Perceived exertion
Adjust the gearing RPM’s to the above table – regardless of the variables. Stay in the RPM guidelines.
